First Session on Parawing

To get the most out of your first session on a parawing, it's really helpful to already have great pumping skills, and be comfortable on a downwind or mid-length board.
A great and stable parawing like the Five-O Pocket Wing or Flow D-Wing is the best way to start.
Here's some tips to make your first go better:
-
The ideal location and winds are side-shore winds 15mph+ with a short down wind stretch that you can do easy shoreline resets.
-
Practice depowering the parawing on land. Some brands work better by just grabbing the front lines, some brands work by grabbing all the lines.
-
Choose a mid-length board close to your weight. Downwind board works as well but tend to track straight down wind more quickly, potentially running out of room.
-
Pump with your knees and body more than pumping with the wing to get on foil. Light tugging on the PW synchronized with board pumping can help. Also, keep the board at a slight angle to the wind (not straight downwind) until up on foil.
-
Depower the wing when heading downwind, running over it could lead to tangled lines.
-
Bring snacks.
