Manta TakeOff Evo: the highest-rated motor of any commercial foil assist right now
3,500W and 35 kg of thrust for takeoffs, catching waves and getting back upwind. On the board you already own, or on your back with the Manta Backpack, from just 4.5 kg.
Why the Manta TakeOff Evo

Fly with it
The Air batteries are made of 97 Wh packs, each under the 100 Wh limit for spare lithium batteries, so they go in your carry-on. We've taken eight Air batteries through TSA, two hours or more of riding. Most foil assist systems limit you to one battery per flight.

Rinse and ride
The motor is fully enclosed with no exposed bearings or rotor to service. A 10-second freshwater rinse after a session is all it needs.

Light and narrow
From 4.5 kg, with a body only 13 cm wide. Less weight and less drag mean better carving and easier pumping once you're up.
Pick your battery setup
Every battery comes as a Starter package (standard charger, 2-blade prop) or our Pakaʻa Pro package (fast charger, 3-blade prop).
| Setup | Capacity | Weight (excl. motor) | Ride time* | Can fly? | Starter / Pakaʻa Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1× Air | 194 Wh | 2.5 kg / 5.5 lb | 15–20 min | Yes | $5,100 / $5,640 |
| 2× Air | 388 Wh | 3.8 kg / 8.4 lb | 35–40 min | Yes | $5,880 / $6,420 |
| 1× Endurance | 518 Wh | 4.0 kg / 8.8 lb | 45–50 min | No (over airline limit) | $5,560 / $6,100 |
*Manta's average figures; real ride time depends on rider weight, skill and foil setup.
Charging: fast charger about 30 min (194 Wh) or 1 h 20 (518 Wh); standard charger about 1 h or 2 h 40. Every battery has its own battery management system. Want Air plus Endurance? Text us and we'll put it together.
On the board or on your back
We sell and support both setups, with every battery option (Air and Endurance).

Board mount
Mount the Manta TakeOff Evo on any standard foil board with a 90 mm track. Nothing on your body, no trench needed.

Manta Backpack
The backpack moves the power unit off the board and onto you, so the board stays light for carving and pumping. It floats (about 5 kg of buoyancy), comes in S to XL, and also fits most other 90 mm-track foil assist systems, including Foil Drive.

Taking it on a trip?
Pack the Air batteries. Each 97 Wh pack is under the 100 Wh limit for spare lithium batteries, so they go in your carry-on. We've taken eight Air batteries (two packs each) through TSA. Airlines set their own limits, so always check with your airline before you fly.
Riding in Hawaii
Slow-no-wake near shore
Hawaii treats a board with foil assist as a motorboat, so keep to slow-no-wake speed (about 5 mph) within 200 ft of the shoreline, swimmers and divers' flags. Keep well clear of swimmers, paddlers and other unpowered craft.
Registration rules for foil assists are still being settled. This is general guidance, not legal advice, so check with DOBOR if you're unsure.

Try it on Kauaʻi
A lesson is the easiest way to try the Manta TakeOff Evo before you buy, and one of the easiest ways for beginners to start foiling. Text is best.
Questions
Will the Manta TakeOff Evo fit my foil?
Yes, if your board has a standard 90 mm track, and the universal pod clamps to most foil brands' masts. Send us your foil, mast and board and we'll confirm before you order.
What's the difference between Starter and Pakaʻa Pro?
Starter comes with the standard charger and the 2-blade propeller. Pakaʻa Pro adds the fast charger (roughly twice as quick) and the 3-blade propeller for more grip and thrust on take-off. The rest of the kit is the same.
Can I take foil assist batteries on a plane?
The Air batteries, yes. Each one is built from 97 Wh packs, under the 100 Wh limit for spare lithium batteries, so they travel in your carry-on (never in checked bags). We've taken eight Air batteries through TSA. Airlines set their own limits on how many spares you can bring, so check with your airline before you fly. The 518 Wh Endurance battery can't fly.
How long does a battery last?
From 15–20 minutes on one Air battery to 65–70 minutes with Air plus Endurance, by Manta's figures. Used just for takeoffs and getting back out, it lasts far longer than full eFoil riding.
How much power does it have?
3,500W and 35 kg of thrust, enough for heavier riders or for flying smaller boards and wings.
What maintenance does it need?
A 10-second freshwater rinse after each session. The motor is sealed, with no bearings to service.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes. The remote has beginner to advanced profiles and a 10-step power limit. Foil assist is a great way to learn to foil, and a lesson gets you up faster. Text 808-278-0650 to book one on Kauaʻi.
Can I use it as a full eFoil?
Yes. Swap the power cable and use the 85 cm eFoil mast.
Can I try one before I buy?
Yes. We run foil assist lessons on Kauaʻi, and a lesson is the easiest way to try the Manta TakeOff Evo before you buy. Text 808-278-0650 to set one up.
